The Honorable Lynn N. Hughes, a US District Court judge in the Southern District of Texas' Houston Division, has ordered the US Government to return $35,151.00 that Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection officers wrongly seized last year from a family that was flying to Ethiopia via Dubai from Houston's George Bush Intercontinental Airport.  The following is an excerpt from the scathing opinion: "Six officers appeared at the trial, four of whom testified.  A 'case agent' sat with the government's counsel.  He knew nothing.  His sole contribution had been to enter data into a computer; he could not have assisted the United States attorney.  In addition to overreaching the people whom they are to serve, three officers wasted one-half day watching four others embarrass themselves."
